Social Media: The Problem, The Pause, and My Conviction to Return

The intersection of faith and social media: Navigating modern challenges and spiritual balance.
The intersection of faith and social media: Navigating modern challenges and spiritual balance.

If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know I’ve stepped back from social media more than once. In truth, I’ve often wanted to delete it all completely — to find peace away from the noise and never look back.

The world has felt heavy. Dark, even. Every time I returned, I felt the sickness of it all. Tragedy twisted into headlines, false stories spun into traction, AI-generated images fuelling division, painful moments turned into opportunities for greed. It left me disheartened — and asking: why stay in this space at all?

For a while, I hoped Simon and I could step away altogether. Build our work quietly and organically through community, through real-world opportunities, and through our website. Leave social media behind. And honestly, I still believe there is wisdom in building solid foundations outside of these platforms.

But something shifted.

It’s taken me a long time to find the words for this, because putting thoughts out there, especially at a time of such intense turbulence, isn’t easy — but what follows is honest and unapologetic.

The Importance of Speaking Up

In the middle of all this noise, I also heard voices that reminded me not to give in to silence.

One of them was Alex Clark — a woman I really admire and resonate with on so many levels. She speaks with courage, clarity, and warmth in a time when so much feels uncertain. Recently she spoke about the importance of using your voice, however small it might feel. That struck me deeply.

Another was Pastor Mark Driscoll, one of my all-time favourite pastors from across the pond. Mark has a way of cutting through confusion with straight, biblical truth. He spoke about how fear so often shuts our mouths, but truth is always needed — especially in times of chaos.

Those reminders hit home. Because here in Britain — and across the world — we are facing deep crisis. Many nations are suffering far more than ours, yet the thread that runs through it all is the same: if those of us who hold truth stay quiet, the silence only deepens the problem.

The Health Crisis on Our Doorstep

The health crisis in our nation is getting incredibly scary. And it’s not hidden — it’s visible on every street we walk down.

Almost every person I pass is clutching a vape. Our supermarkets are overflowing with ultra-processed foods that fuel addiction, anxiety, and disease. Children are growing up on diets from boxes and packets, and obesity and type 2 diabetes are showing up earlier than ever before. Energy crashes, brain fog, depression, skin flare-ups, and autoimmune conditions are becoming the norm — not the exception.

This fuels my conviction. It would be easier to step back from the noise, but instead I feel more determined than ever to live as a strong example of truth — first for my family, and then outward.

If our children don’t see us holding firm, showing that there is another way, who will they look to? And if our neighbours don’t hear a voice of clarity in the chaos, how will they ever find it?

Faith and Health Belong Together

One thing I cannot ignore is how deeply faith and health are connected. Scripture reminds us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit — not just shells to drag through life, but brilliant, God-given houses that we dwell in until our souls no longer need them.

I’ll be honest — I’ve had moments of drifting, and I’ve watched friends do the same. And what I learned is this: even for a moment, life feels truly dark when you are far from God. Without Him, it’s easy to become vulnerable to the deceptions that flood our culture. That’s why I’ve reached a place where I have no desire to please “the world” . And in that, I feel free. Free to live fully, and free to speak truth — even when it isn’t popular.

How easily we forget this overlap. God designed our bodies with wisdom and resilience. He gave us everything we need in creation to nourish, heal, and thrive. And He asks us to honour what He has given.

So often we pray for healing, but continue making choices that damage our very being at a cellular level. Praying for restoration while knowingly harming the body God entrusted to you is not faith — it is folly. True faith acts. It honours. It chooses differently. And it produces fruit that no quick fix or empty prayer ever could.

Because faith without action leaves us stuck. But when faith drives us to honour God with our bodies, the fruit is strength, clarity, and resilience that overflows into every other part of life.

And I know this is exactly where God wants me to be right now — for myself, for my family, and for you.

Unity Over Self

Just this morning, as this article sat unpublished on my laptop, our pastor, Matt Warren, spoke on the importance of unity. His words cut through so much of what I see in both the church and the health world right now, and I knew they had to be included here.

So often, people are out for their own glorification — building platforms, chasing recognition, or lifting themselves higher instead of serving those who need it. But true strength is found in unity. In walking together, encouraging one another, and building up instead of tearing down.

Do nothing out of vain pursuit — learn to die daily.

This is the posture I am pursuing: humility, service, and daily dying to the ego that may be tempted to rise. In faith and in practice, I want my work to lift people, not myself.

Where We’re At

So, Directional Health is still ours. The vision hasn’t gone away, but the launch will come in God’s timing, not ours. For now, both Simon and I are available through my existing site, The Kitchen Detox.

Our Foundations Package is open — a practical, personalised starting point for anyone ready to take their health seriously. It combines nutrition, lifestyle, and strength-focused movement, and it’s designed to give you more than just a plan. It’s about equipping you with clarity and confidence in a world that thrives on confusion. It’s a solid foundation to build health that actually lasts.

Returning, Refreshed

So here I am again. Not because I love social media, not because it feels comfortable, but because obedience matters more than comfort.

I will use my voice — however small — to stand for truth in these times. For my family first, and then outward. For health, for clarity, and for the hope that is only found in Christ.

If you’ve wondered why I come and go, know this: I’m human. I get weary. I retreat. I’m also a mum of three and partner to a brilliant man, and sometimes they must come first. But I return because God won’t let me stay silent.

So this isn’t a comeback for the sake of noise.

It’s a return with conviction — to speak truth, to bring light, and to stand firm in a world that needs it.

What to Expect

My return won’t look like daily videos or constant posting. What I share will be well-timed, well-researched, and time-tested — guidance that truly helps, not noise that adds to the confusion or fuels the “my way is better than yours” narrative.

But I do need to offer a word of caution when it comes to health advice. Beware of the charlatans. The easiest way to spot them? They’re the ones who insist their health method is the only way.

Unlike faith — where Jesus truly is the only way — health and the human body are far more complex. God’s design is both miraculous and mysterious, a never-ending exploration. The human body is awesome and still largely unknown. If anyone claims to have it all figured out, be wary. True wisdom points back to God’s design and stays humble enough to keep learning.

And that’s where I stand. I don’t claim to know everything, but I have walked long enough to find answers worth sharing — ones that bring freedom, strength, and hope, and have added years of real living (not pain-filled surviving) to the lives of many I’ve worked with. That is what you’ll always find here

With Love as always
